Community Service Programs


Art

     The emphasis shall be Arts and Crafts, Literature and Performing Arts, Women in the Arts, Very Special Arts and to promote available GFWC scholarships. The Arts Department shall develop a deeper appreciation of and extended participation in the arts in the home, in the school, and in the community, to create a better understanding of all cultures, to develop creative expression, and to preserve freedom of expression.

Volunteering at local museum
Conservation

     The emphasis shall be Energy Awareness, Resource Conservation, Beautification Program, Solid Waste Management, and the Shawnee National Forest. To arouse concern for and understanding of the importance of conservation of our national resources of land, water, air, and to encourage contributions for conservation scholarships. Involve youth and senior citizens in all phases of conservation for community betterment; implement education programs extending the usefulness of our energy resources and environmental awareness of pollution and land use.

Education

     The emphasis shall be on Continuing Education, Learning Disabilities, Literacy Programs, Illinois Leadership Seminar, Epsilon Sigma Omicron (ESO), Libraries 2000 and Beyond, and promotion of available GFWC scholarships. To ensure the best possible education programs for all people. To acknowledge the right of each individual to attain, retain, and apply knowledge.

Health

    The emphasis shall be to encourage the development, expansion, and extension of health education, volunteer services, and community action.
Health - Home Life

     The emphasis shall be focusing on Financial Issues Program, Winning Wheels Program and Federation approved community programs: Easter Seals, Heavenly Hats, Canine Companions for Independence, Habitat for Humanity International, Hunger in America, March of Dimes, National Organization on Disability.  To provide club women with emphasis on promoting high standards of home life and in building better communities, with emphasis on religious influence, ethical behavior, sound family economics, consumer marketing, and gerontology.

International Affairs

     The emphasis shall be to increase understanding of international policies, the United Nations and other countries, and to provide international aid to Federation approved organizations. C.A.R.E., Plan USA, Clowns without Borders, Community Awareness, Heifer Project International, Global Volunteers, Operation Smile, Project Hope, Save the Children, World Food Day, Cultural Exchange, Youth Exchanges, International Cultural exchanges, Outreach Programs of Children, and Youth Exchanges.

Public, Veteran, and Native American Affairs

The GFWC Public Issues Community Service Program is designed to actively connect members with effective projects and activities relating to civic engagement.

We make donations to the Quincy Veterans Home.
